SAN ANTONIO MISSIONS - Beautiful & Historic National Park Trail in San Antonio, Texas

There is so much more to see in San Antonio than the Alamo. I love the Alamo and every time I visit San Antonio I go there and stand humbly in the naive, considering the final sacrifice of those Texas Patriots. The Alamo however, is only one of a handful of historic Spanish Missions that were erected along the San Antonio River.

Mission Concepcion is a fine example of a Spanish Mission along the San Antonio River. These missions were constructed in the early 1700's and served as forts and sanctuarys from which the Padres would preach Catholicism to the Indian people in hopes of converting them to that religion.

Very peaceful place. Beautiful walking paths and bike trails connect all of the missions to one another along the San Antonio River

The Espada Aqueduct is an amazing primitive piece of archetecture

Nice, quiet and off the beaten path. A perfect place to ponder what it may have been like in this area hundreds of years ago when this aqueduct was built.

Espada Aqueduct - Provided the life blood - water to the Espada mission which made agriculture possible.

Mission Espada - San Antonio Missions National Park - This is my favorite one.

Look at the masterful way craftsmen put these bricks together just so, so many years ago.
