ILLINOIS RIVER ROAD & STARVED ROCK STATE PARK - ILLINOIS

Took a beautiful drive along Illinois River Road from Peoria, IL to Interstate 80 on the way back to O'hare Airport: This is landing at Lacon

Noticed this old creepy barn alongside HWY 26

Pretty fields, lowland swamps, cornfields and puffy clouds

Drove up HWY 26 and East on HWY 71

Stopped to get some water at the small town of Oglesby. Very depressed town. Old cement factory must have sustained the place in years past and it is completely abandoned. These are the towns that built our country. Sad to see them deserted.

Trail at Starved Rock State Park

French Canyon - Starved Rock State Park

Spring Flowers - Starved Rock State Park

Illinois River as seen from the top of Starved Rock where the French built a fort in the 1600's in order to protect their fur trade and so that priests such as Pere Marquette could preach to and convert the Illinois Indians at Kaskaskia

Stairs to top of Starved Rock will tire you out

Interesting geology at Starved Rock

Not sure what type of trees these are but they sure are pretty in the Spring when they blossom
