CONNECTICUT - Talcott Mountain

View of the Farmington River valley as seen from the top of Talcott Mountain Ridge along the "Yellow" Trail.
Connecticut
Just a few miles north of Hartford, Connecticut there is a Mountain. Talcott Mountain to be exact and it is a great place to escape the hustle and bustle of city life. Talcott Mountain is a 13 mile long traprock mountain ridge that rises to a height of 950 feet. The west face of the high ridge is a series of abrupt, tiered cliffs, some of which are over 700 feet tall. Forests of oak, hemlock, hickory and birch cover its slopes. Good trail-heads and colored blaise trails provide access through the forest and along the top of the ridge.
